Survivalist Theory
by Scott Thomas Outlar
Here is my heart,
consumed with love, conjuring peace,
kissing shadows, caressing the sun,
focused on fate, pushing past
every crack that appears
to try and break it.
All of the lust
from the base of red chakra
tempting me between
silken sheets in your bed
cannot corrupt the smile
of my spirit
as I escape all the lies
you hiss through the night.
Sweet sighs of salvation
are not found near your flesh,
but arrive with the light
as I survive
to breathe fresh air come morning.
Here is my view,
gazing on high, streaked with colors
across the sky, imbued with hues
of bright amber life, revivified,
intoxicated with new horizons
of holy hallelujah and health.
All of the dirt
from the grave that you dug
will never cover
the truth from my eyes
as I climb from the hole
where you pushed me to die.
One fall will never fell me
and my faith will never fail me
because your cuts can never bleed
out the trust that I have
in the freewill that offers ascension.
Here is my song,
piercing loud, rising proud,
synchronized with the sound
of the spheres, weeping tears
that flood with joy, ready
to employ all the lessons
learned thus far.
